How to Use Auto Transport Reviews When Evaluating Car Shippers

Car shipping process | Choosing an auto shipper

Yelp. Angie's List. and TransportNews – there are tons of sites to review when you're looking for a company to transport your car. They're filled with everyone's opinion of the companies being reported on. And you've heard the sayings: "Opinions are as good as the money you pay for them," or "Opinions are like noses – everyone has one and they all smell."

When you go to a new restaurant for the first time, you probably take some time to look at reviews on the various websites to see how service is, and maybe you talk to friends who might have dined there or looked at the menu.

You definitely want to do more when looking to ship your car – the impact of making the wrong choice could be devastating to both your vehicle and your wallet. So how do should you go about using auto transport reviews when evaluating car shippers?

Auto Transport Reviews: Where to Start

Before you select a car shipping company, it's wise to begin by asking the company itself for references.

Ask them, also, for two or three customers who did not have a good experience. Any company can talk about their successes, but it's what happens when things go wrong that mean the most in terms of great customer service.

If the company is willing to give you the names of a few customers who had problems, definitely talk to them. Find out how the company reacted to the problem and whether it's an issue you could live with if it comes up again.

Next Step: Third Party Auto Transport Review Sites

Then, turn to the internet. The best auto transport review sites include:

When looking at the reviews, remember that the most vocal reviewers are probably those who had problems. Happy customers rarely go out to review sites and publish their experiences, so it's a good idea to take the information with a grain of salt.

Remember, too, that the companies being reviewed might have resolved the situation. The person with the problem may not have gone back to the site to post an update.

Bad Reviews? Do Your Research.

Should you find that one of the auto transport companies you're interested in has bad reviews, don't be afraid to ask them about it. If you get a bad feeling from their response, or if their response doesn't directly address the issue, this probably is not a company with whom you should do business.

And walk away from any company that tells you most of the bad reviews are from "crazy" or "unreasonable" customers. They'll likely try to shift the blame to you if there's a problem.

Most car transport companies are reliable, professional and will get your car where it needs to go without extra hassle to you. Dependable Auto Shippers will always give you the best experience available when it comes time to ship your car.

But remember that it's your car. Ask questions, get the answers in writing and do your research ahead of time.
