Types of Vehicles That Can Be Shipped Across the Country

Auto Transport | Car shipping process | Choosing an auto shipper

All of them.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but professional auto transporters, like DAS, have been in the business of moving big freight, particularly passenger vehicles, for generations now. They have the experience, expertise, and specialized equipment to move any vehicle. Any where.

Of course cars and trucks are the most common shipments, but let us give you more detail. You probably have a specific scenario in mind – namely, your car. Your truck. Will it ship? Probably.

What types of automobiles can be transported?

Cars, trucks, SUVs, minivans, conversion vans, station wagons, and more.

If it’s got four wheels, it can be shipped pretty easily. The type of vehicle, the make, model and reason for shipping all help determine the best way to ship it and the cost.

For example, say you’ve just found out that you have to move work – Congratulations! That’s great news. As it turns out you’ve just purchased a brand new, full featured, top of the line luxury sedan and you’re less than tickled about driving it to work, let alone across seven states. You will benefit greatly from options like enclosed and top-load shipping to give an extra layer of protection to your new ride.

If you are relocating your young family because of a promotion at work – again, Congratulations! – but you’re still driving the same car that got you through grad school, that old trusty, around-the-town family car. You may decide not to opt for such premium services.

Even if it doesn’t run.

Perhaps you bought an old fixer-upper at auction and you’d like to get it to your favorite body shop to do some of the major work before you get in there and fine tune. The only problem is that your body shop is in the city where you used to live. And the car’s on blocks.

That’s not a problem at all. Experienced vehicle shippers can deliver for you. There may be additional charges for loading and unloading, since it can’t be driven up a ramp.

Even if it has had an aftermarket makeover.

Whether it’s a lift kit and smokestacks on a pickup truck or hydraulic switches on a low-rider, it can most likely be shipped. If the roof sits higher than seven feet tall or there is less than four inches of ground clearance, special accommodations may have to be made.

Even if it doesn’t have four wheels.

That’s right – we mean bikes. Trikes. Touring machines and racing set-ups. Even ATVs, four-wheelers, and other off-road vehicles. Like snowmobiles. And, jet skis, for that matter.

In fact, all kinds of watercraft can be moved over land and over sea.

From luxury yachts to decked-out bass boats. From single-hulled sailboats to trimarans. Even houseboats. Come to think of it…

As well as all types of recreational vehicles.

Whether you’re getting ready to tour the Pacific Northwest in a 35-foot motorcoach or wander the Oachita Mountains pulling a fifth-wheel trailer. If you don’t live in those places and can’t get the time off work to drive there and drive around, ship it ahead. It’ll be there waiting for you when you get off the plane.

Or, if you’re a retired snowbird, and just about to fly south for another glorious winter in a sunshiny state, you can ship your home ahead of you. After all, you’re not a turtle.

Still wondering about your vehicle and whether it can be shipped?

If we didn’t address your specific scenario above, please feel free to contact us toll-free at 888-817-6203. Or, you can email us from our Contact page.
