4 Reasons (& 3 Rallies) to Invest in Motorcycle Transport

Motorcycle Shipping
For some of us, it's a Harley Davidson. For some of us, it's a Honda Goldwing. For still others, it's our tricked-out sportbike.
No matter what model it is, or how it revs from a purr to a roar, you remember the moment it became yours. You knew you'd made it - in business and life - when you drove it home for the first time.
Why would you ship your motorcycle when you can drive it?
Sounds counter-intuitive, doesn't it? Your bike is your baby, so much more than a prized possession. It gives you such freedom and fun. If you need it be somewhere, it's got two wheels; you should just drive it there yourself, right?
Absolutely!
But there are times when life conspires against you and your wanderlust. No matter how loudly the open road calls to you and your machine.
Sometimes the responsible choice is not to drive your motorcycle yourself.
Here are four such situations. Of course, it's not an inclusive list; tell us about your experience in the comments below.
1. Relocation of house and home
When you're moving your family across the state or across the country, the last thing you need to worry about is how to get your motorcycle there, too. You can hardly sandwich your ride between the couch and the dresser inside the moving van.
2. Extended vacations and second homes
Bicoastal professionals, snowbirds, active retirees, and anybody planning to spend more than a few weeks in a new locale would benefit from shipping their motorcycle while they travel separately to the destination. Chances are, even if you've got panniers and luggage racks, you don't have enough room to carry everything you need for a successful trip. You're not a turtle, after all!
3. Busy rally riders
You shouldn't have to choose between riding to the rally and riding at the rally. If you can't take that much time off from tending the store, let us get your motorcycle there for you. When you fly in, you'll shave days off your total trip time and get to fully enjoy the sights and sounds of rally season.
4. Your own motorcycle rally trailer is already full.
Maybe you've got your own trailer plus the time to drive it down and back, but you've graciously offered to carry your neighbor's bike. Your in-law's. Your significant other's. Wasn't that generous of you? Now, what are you going to do with your own bike?
Or you're like our friend Eddie, the retired team roper. Every year, he shows his grand champion steers all along the rodeo circuit and ends in Sturgis. He ships his bike but trailers his longhorns himself.
You can imagine why, even if there were room, he wouldn't want to carry his bike and his bulls together!
Speaking of big bike rallies, which of these 3 rallies do you ride in?
Official Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Florida
Every year in March before the beach sands of the Atlantic really get cooking, 500,000 bikers descend on Daytona Beach for the 10-day Bike Week celebration. This world-famous festival has been a tradition in Volusia County since the inaugural run in 1937.
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas, with Willie and Waylon and the boys.
Bikers are always welcome in the town of Luckenbach, population 3, where everybody's somebody. The Optimist Club of Fredericksburg has been putting on the Hill Country Run since 1983. "More than just a plain ole motorcycle rally!" Proceeds from the event benefit area youth programs.
Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
Headed to South Dakota to celebrate the 74th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally? You'll be in good company. Between 400,000 and 600,000 motorcycle enthusiasts make the journey to be part of this not-to-be-missed event of bike culture.
Trust your baby into the care of our capable professionals.
Thankfully, the responsible choice is an easy one with the respected and experienced team at DAS, the premier choice for luxury auto and motorcycle transport for over 50 years.
Regardless of the reason or the rally, rest assured when you leave the transport to us. We'll get it there safely and on time, wherever you need it.
